About the McGuire Entrepreneurship Program
Having an idea for the next multi-billion dollar high-tech venture is only one potential path for an entrepreneur. With knowledge value emerging as the 21st century driver of economic growth, the role of the entrepreneur is evolving, and fast.
At the Eller College of Management’s Chris and Carol McGuire Entrepreneurship Program, students develop venture plans to commercialize wide-ranging innovation. But they are also armed with the skills and experience to turn ideas into reality in any environment, whether that means a new venture, existing company, nonprofit organization, or small business.
Entrepreneurship goes beyond starting a business: it is learning how to recognize and advance innovation. To grow and thrive, today’s communities, corporations, and ventures must organize around the knowledge economy. Throughout the McGuire Center, this philosophy underpins academic programs that are built on a strong network of University departments and programs, working entrepreneurs, community organizations, and corporations — each pursuing overlapping goals.
It’s an unusual approach. It’s also an effective one: the McGuire Center is one of the oldest and best-regarded entrepreneurship centers in the country, one that continually seeks opportunities for advancement within its curriculum, research, and teaching — so it produces graduates who understand and contribute to the developing knowledge economy.
